THE TIME HAS COME TO BUILD WHAT AFRICA DESERVES
Building Africa's Healthcare Future
Legacy Medical School · Cape Coast, Ghana
The unanswered question — answered.
For decades, African professionals across the United States have excelled in medicine, science, research, and healthcare leadership. Yet many of us have carried the same unanswered question: How do we give back meaningfully to the continent that shaped us?
Today, we have an answer. The Diaspora African Health Network (DAHN) is launching a bold and historic initiative to help redefine the future of healthcare in Africa through education, innovation, and institution-building.
Our long-term vision is the development of a world-class medical city in Africa. The first and foundational step toward that vision is the establishment of the Legacy Medical School in Cape Coast, Ghana.
This institution will educate and empower a new generation of African doctors who will:
- 01Deliver evidence-based healthcare throughout Africa
- 02Advance medical research and innovation
- 03Strengthen underserved healthcare systems
- 04Help address global physician shortages, including in the United States
WHY GHANAGhana has been selected as the home of this pioneering project because of its reputation for democratic stability, responsible governance, and commitment to progress.
Anchored in Cape Coast's academic legacy
Cape Coast's universities and research institutions provide the scholarly foundation supporting Legacy Medical School's mission of evidence-based medical education and rigorous training.
History teaches us that transformative institutions are built when visionary people unite around a common purpose. We believe the African diaspora possesses the knowledge, resources, and determination to create something extraordinary — not only for ourselves, but for future generations.
That is why we are inviting you to become part of the inaugural DAHN committee. Your voice, expertise, and leadership can help shape one of the most important African diaspora healthcare initiatives of our generation.
